Grants and contracts unit

The Grants office is dedicated to working with Researchers, Faculties, Institutes and Strategic Research Centres to increase the number of successful research grants and fellowships and support the efficient management of projects.

The Grants office will:

  • Provide advice on funding opportunities
  • Work with you and your Faculty/Institute/SRC to prepare and lodge your application
  • Help set up your successful project
  • Assist with ongoing project management
  • Liaise with funding bodies


The Contracts office works with individual researchers, the Grants office, University Solicitor's Office and funding bodies to ensure that research contracts and agreements are executed in a timely manner.

The Contracts office will:

  • Assess whether a research contract requires approval by the Contract Assessments Sub-Committee
  • Liaise with individual researchers for clarification of instructions for contract drafting / amendment
  • Forward instructions and any contracts to the University Solicitor's Office for review
  • Send University drafted contracts to funding bodies for review
  • Facilitate full execution of contracts
  • Record ethics approval if required
  • Request account codes and facilitate initial invoices
