Deakin salaries

The Grants Unit has made available a table (below) listing a subset of this salary information showing the effect of the addition of on costs effective 1 April 2008. As ARC normally require that salaries included in Discovery and Linkage Grant applications should be those current in January of the first year of funding (ie the next round should use salaries for January 2009) the increases in salary flagged by the VC have been built in.

Salary information

Note that while the cost of most appointments on a grant application will be calculated using Deakin Salary scales, some granting bodies require that costs included in the budget request are pegged to external scales such as the ARC's Fellowship Scales . Applicants should be aware that the end result of this is that, while the funding body provides funding at the level shown in the salary scale, Deakin's rates as determined by enterprise bargaining are the rates that will actually be paid should the grant be awarded. In practice, this usually means that there is a shortfall between what is awarded and what is paid which has to be made up from university funds (ie from the resources of the academic unit in question).
