ARC Application Process

All future ARC applications will use the Research Management System (RMS) instead of the long lived GAMS which will now be used for legacy details only. Details of how to access the RMS are provided below.

General Information

The application forms for all ARC Grants will be available via the RMS entry point http://rms.arc.gov.au. A RMS ID and password are required. These are related to existing GAMS IDs if you already have such. For previous applications existing GAMS IDs remain valid and you can still access GAMS separately.

Review Process

Please see the ARC Timetable.

For draft proposals for text review, we will require an electronic version of the application - the priority here is the text sections (currently B7 for LP and B10 for DP with C2 3, D2, E).

Please do not send us multiple version of your application during the final compliance assessment period. If you spot an error which you wish to correct then phone or email to arrange the best way of effecting the change. Multiple versions of the same application give rise to potential confusion when assembling the final version of the application.

Additional requirements apply to Linkage Project applications.

ARC’s Research Management System (RMS) is live.

The ARC's Research Management System (RMS)is now available at http://rms.arc.gov.au

RMS is used by:

We expect RMS will be available for the creation and submission of proposals for DIRD 2010 and LP 2010 (Round 1) from Wednesday 18 March 2009.

Additional information on RMS is available at the ARC website: www.arc.gov.au/applicants/system_default.htm

Discovery Indigenous Researchers Development proposals must be submitted through RMS

Instructions under Section 13 of the DIRD Funding Rules must be followed in accordance with Subsection 11.3 of the DIRD Funding Rules.

Existing GAMS Users

If you had a GAMS user account prior to January 2009, your GAMS ID and profile have been copied to RMS. Your RMS User ID will be the same as your GAMS ID with all letters capitalised, and the password reset.

Please follow the instructions below to change your password and update your details.

Requesting an RMS User Account

All RMS users must have an RMS User Account; each account has a single RMS User ID and password. RMS Users must have a current email address and maintain their email address details in RMS. Users can apply online through RMS, however users associated with an Australian University will have their User Account requests validated by their Research Office, and should discuss their account request with the Research Office prior to submitting the online request.

Outcomes of your User Account request will be emailed to you. You or your IT support area may need to add rms@arc.gov.au to your list of trusted email addresses to prevent the emails being marked as spam.

Changing your password

Click the ‘Reset Password’ link on the RMS login page and follow the prompts. You will be asked for your user name. You user name is the same as your GAMS ID, but with all letters capitalised.

Once you have entered a valid user name you will receive an email with a link to reset your password. Follow the instructions in the email and you will be able to login.

If you do not receive your password-reset email please check your spam email box, or contact rms@arc.gov.au for assistance.

Please note that password reset requests expire within a couple of hours.

Once you are logged in you can change your password through the ‘RMS User Account Details’ link on your home page.

Lost user IDs

If you cannot remember or have lost your user name you can request a reminder email be sent from the RMS login page. Simply click on ‘Retrieve User Name’ and enter your email address. A reminder email will then be sent to the email address recorded in ARC systems.

If you no longer have access to your email address or have changed email addresses please contact rms@arc.gov.au for assistance.

Updating your personal details

When you first log in to RMS, please check and update your client details using the links under ‘My Details’ on your home page. Up-to-date contact details, particularly email address, are critical to ensure you can continue to use RMS.

In addition these links enable you to update employment, classification, and qualification information, all of which is used to pre-populate sections of your proposals.

Please verify that your administering organisation details are correct (personal details, organisation details tab) and use the ‘Request Transfer’ link to update if required.

If you have difficulty updating your details, please email: rms@arc.gov.au or phone: +61 2 6287 6600.
