CSIRO $97 Million Research Collaboration Fund

The Fund, as part of the Federal Government’s ‘Backing Australia’s Ability – Building our Future through Science and Innovation’ package, will invest $96.8m over seven years to support collaborative research geared to contribute to the objectives of CSIRO’s National Research Flagships program.

During 2005/6 some $8.75m will be available across the three components of the Fund. The components and key points are as follows.

1. Flagship Collaborative Research Program, comprising:

Flagship clusters - minimum $1 million, applications close on 30/6/05
Flagship projects - minimum $100,000

2. Flagship Visiting Fellowships - applications for Semester 2, 2005 close on 10/6/05
3. Flagship Postgraduate Scholarships - applications for 2006 open later in 2005

Concurrently with the announcement of the Fund, CSIRO are calling for proposals for Flagship Clusters and Visiting Fellowships. Funding for clusters will be a minimum of $1 million per cluster over a three-year period. It is expected that around 5 clusters will be approved for commencement in 2005/6.
