The Fund, as part of the Federal Government’s ‘Backing Australia’s Ability – Building our Future through Science and Innovation’ package, will invest $96.8m over seven years to support collaborative research geared to contribute to the objectives of CSIRO’s National Research Flagships program.
During 2005/6 some $8.75m will be available across the three components of the Fund. The components and key points are as follows.

Concurrently with the announcement of the Fund, CSIRO are calling for proposals for Flagship Clusters and Visiting Fellowships. Funding for clusters will be a minimum of $1 million per cluster over a three-year period. It is expected that around 5 clusters will be approved for commencement in 2005/6.
