Richard Ingleby (Directory, Research Training) has introduced some initiatives to assist in the completion process for the group of about 400 HDR candidates who have indicated in the 2007 Annual Review that they are going to submit before 31 December 2008 or who have a maximum completion date before then.
A large number of completing candidates gave a brief presentation on their conclusions to the recent Induction workshop. There are 2 useful follow-ups to the “3 main conclusions of my thesis” exercise.
The first is to repeat it in relation to each chapter of your thesis. The requirement to redraft the first and final pages of each chapter is a useful discipline because it directs your attention to the need to create an overall structure for your argument.
