Upcoming Workshops

CISR and Fraunhofer Chalmers Research Centre (FCC) Workshop on
Virtual Reality, Haptics and Cable Simulation using IPS

Date: Friday 4 September 2015
Time: 9:30am - 5:00pm
Location: Centre for Intelligent Systems Research, Deakin University, Geelong

Virtual reality systems are becoming a must for product and process design, training practices and ergonomic analysis in many manufacturing industries. The automotive sector is considered to be the leader in applying virtual reality (VR) solutions for real-world, non-trivial problems. The Centre for Intelligent Systems Research (CISR) has developed Haptics Interfaces for modelling and simulation of flexible materials as well as part task training that could be used for product and process design, ergonomic analysis as well as general assembly training.

IPS Software has a unique value in the field of automotive and industrial process optimization and quality assurance with respect to cables, wiring harnesses and hoses as well as path planning. The software has been successfully evaluated and benchmarked by various OEM. It is integrated into the product process of various automotive companies as standard tool for digital mock-up with flexible components and path planning. Moreover, the IPS Software is integrated into the product process as fast interdisciplinary decision platform. Thus, validated results may be achieved 6 to 8 months earlier.

ACRV/CISR Robotics Workshop

Date: Wednesday 17 June 2015
Time: 8:30am - 4:00pm
Location: Room na 1.418, Geelong Technology Precinct (GTP) Building (Ground Floor), Centre for Intelligent Systems Research, Deakin University, Waurn Ponds, Geelong, Australia

Robots are changing the way we live and work. The Australian Centre for Robotic Vision (ACRV) and Deakin University's Centre for Intelligent Systems Research (CISR) bring together Australia's top researchers in robotics, computer vision and systems.

We invite you to join researchers from ACRV and CISR to learn more about robotics and how industry sectors are gaining competitive advantage through robotics in a rapidly changing market. The Robotics Workshop Series will explore the implications for industries, methods you can use to deploy robotics to take advantage of and respond to sector opportunities with specific reference to examples of research collaboration with business.

The Workshop is designed for industry leaders investigating introducing robotics into their businesses, and to create connections with Australia's leading researchers at ACRV and CISR.

ACRV and CISR

Robotic vision research at ACRV is developing the key enabling technology that will allow robotics to transform labour-intensive industries, disrupt stagnant markets, and ensure robots become a ubiquitous feature of the modern world.

CISR investigates and develops state-of-the-art algorithms and methodologies that provide practical solutions to real world problems that are encountered by systems operating with uncertainty, variability and change.
