The objectives of the Discovery Projects scheme (based on DP2015) are to:

  • support excellent basic and applied research by individuals and teams;
  • enhance the scale and focus of research in the Strategic Research Priorities;
  • expand Australia’s knowledge base and research capability;
  • encourage research and research training in high-quality research environments;
  • enhance international collaboration in research; and
  • foster the international competitiveness of Australian research.

Funding Amounts

Minimum $30,000 pa Maximum $500,000 pa.

1. Liaise with your Faculty/ SRC

2. If invited, submit an online Notice of Intention to Submit (NOIS)

3. Read the Funding Rules (and Instructions to Applicants and FAQ's - 2016 document not currently available)

4. Commence your online application on RMS

5. Work with your Case Manager and use templates provided

6. Organise relevant certification forms

Other Important Information

If requesting a PhD stipend from the ARC, request at $25,406 pa (based on 2014 amounts).
