Two Faculty of Health, Medicine, Nursing & Behavioural Sciences staff members have won NHMRC Project Funding for 2011.
Dr Kylie Hesketh from the Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition; School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences together with her team (Dr Karen Campbell, Prof David Crawford, Prof Jo Salmon, Dr Sarah McNaughton, Dr Zoe McCallum, Dr Adrian Cameron) will work on the project Assessing sustainability of positive outcomes in a successful child obesity prevention intervention: Follow up of The Melbourne InFANT Program
Dr Helen Skouteris, Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing Research, School of Psychology will undertake A Randomised Controlled Trial to Prevent Primigravid Excessive Gestational Weight Gain and Postpartum Weight Retention with her colleagues (Prof Marita McCabe, Prof Jeannette Milgrom, Prof Brigid Kent)
Professor Lee Astheimer has congratulated the Deakin lead investigators and has commended Dr Kylie Hesketh who has now been awarded both a successful NHMRC Project Grant for 2011 as well as an ARC Discovery Project Grant for 2011.
Other Deakin staff will be working on 12 other externally led NHMRC project grants won by other institutions.
