Micro-imaging

A magnetic resonance image of a seed pod

Our Micro5 and Micro2.5 probes allow us to image samples at 11.75 T using a diverse range of nuclei including 1H and 7Li. With X, Y and Z gradients we can record slices of the sample in all three dimensions and reconstruct full 3D images. We can also record spectra from specific regions of the sample, down to a voxel size of approximately 1 μm3.

We will use this capability to study the processes occurring inside lithium batteries as they are charged and discharged.
