Research interests:

Luke's research expertise is in the technique of solid-state NMR spectroscopy, a useful and versatile experimental tool for the molecular scale characterisation of structure and dynamics in materials. He has used this method to study a wide variety of materials, including nanocrystals, silicate glasses, anionic conductors, phosphate ceramics, and hydrogen storage materials. In addition to this, he has also been involved in the development of new experimental methods, with a particular focus on insensitive "quadrupolar" nuclei that are generally more difficult to study than their spin-half counterparts. At Deakin, Luke will continue to develop solid-state NMR methods and applications, and will be involved in a range of collaborative projects with other Deakin researchers.

Qualifications:

  • PhD (University of Warwick, UK, 2007)
