Jay brings to the Deakin Research Commercial team some 25 years' experience connecting industry and researchers across a variety of sectors to produce real impact in industrial environments. 

A chemist and biochemist by training, Jay has management experience in commercial R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, regulatory affairs and business development.  

He has a reputation for creating commercial outcomes and value in enterprises including multi-national corporations, SME start-ups and research organisations including CSIRO and now Deakin.

After gaining his PhD in Immunology at Monash University, and a subsequent MBA from Deakin University, Greg has worked in many sales, marketing, business development and management roles in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical devices industries. 

Most notably, Greg worked at CSL Limited where he had commercial oversight of a number of significant vaccine development programmes, including that of Gardasil® the HPV vaccine. 

He has also worked in commercialisation of university technologies at the University if Auckland and the University of Melbourne, prior to arriving at Deakin.

David works for Deakin University as the Senior Commercial Manager for Australian Future Fibres Research and Innovation Centre (AFFRIC).

David has extensive experience working with groups in developing business for Industrial research to develop and fund targeted research. He has worked extensively in the textiles, fibres and materials.

David has 20 years' experience working throughout Asia and Europe in Business and Research Program Management. He has worked with large research funding Agencies, State and Federal Government agencies.

David worked in Vietnam for two years in the role of company General Director specifically in Business understanding, realignment and development. He has worked extensively in China, India and Europe with major companies in the role of enhancing Industrial research development through to commercialisation.

David sits on multiple industry bodies and is a Board Member for the TTNA.

Graeme Bullock is an experienced senior manager of Australian technology development businesses. 

For more than 30 years, he has lead development of sophisticated multi-disciplinary technical products, commercialisation of Australian research, marketing of new technologies, technical collaborations with international firms, finding channel-to-market partners and management of fast-growth high-technology companies.

He is an Electronic Engineer and has worked in optics and laser research, defence, aerospace, automotive and medical technology industries.

Melanie comes from a broad business background including: CEO of professional accounting practice, The Institute of Chartered Accountants, industry, politics, municipal councillor, directorships of state and private companies, which helps her to deliver individualized solutions for organisations wishing to tap into the expertise of Deakin University.

Having spent several years running her own company Melanie understands that organisations want value, efficiency and quality. Her specialities are complex copyright IP, licencing and spin-offs. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Commerce with a major in Accounting.

His role in Deakin Research Commercial is to conduct market research and prepare detailed market analyses and business cases to support the commercialisation of products, services and technologies developed by Deakin University researchers.

Lin joined Deakin Research Commercial in 2013 to identify, assess and manage commercialisation opportunities arising from the Institute for Frontier Materials of Deakin University.

Before joining Deakin, Lin was a Senior Project Manager in the Tsinghua International Tech Transfer Centre where he led the assessment of investment opportunities in the area of low carbon and clean technologies. Prior to that, Lin worked as a Business Development Associate in the University of Sydney managing industry engagement and commercialisation of IP in the physical science portfolio. Lin had also worked as a researcher in NUS in the field of Microfluidic Biosensor with high impact journal publication.

Lin holds a Bachelor degree in Instrumental Science from Zhejiang University, and a Research Master degree in Bioengineering from the National University of Singapore.

Marian has a B.Comm and managed a family owned business prior to joining Deakin. Marian has worked in many areas across Deakin, from IT operations to finance, school executive officer, IKE business manager, research contracts and project governance.

Marian's diverse experience and understanding of Deakin provides a broad spectrum of knowledge and experience to contribute to her current position as Commercial Manager, Tenders where she assists researchers across the University to develop successful bids for tenders and responses to EOIs.
