Working rules

Deakin University has a range of working rules that apply to the use of radiation sources. These may be supplemented by Faculty and/or Laboratory specific rules. Working rules must be followed at all times to ensure dose limits are not exceeded.

Details of local working rules should be outlined in each WSA, and must include requirements for storage, shielding, PPE, personal and area monitoring, decontamination and emergency procedures, equipment calibration and testing, and waste disposal procedures as applicable.

Further detail of all working rules and procedures required to be followed when working with radiation at Deakin are described fully in the Radiation Management Plan.

An example of Radiation Laboratory Guideline is available here.
