Induction and Training

Deakin Research Integrity provides induction and training for the following areas:

Research Integrity
Research Integrity (RI)training covers the requirements of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and other RI matters such as privacy and copyright. It is compulsory for all Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students, and the seminars may also be attended by other students or staff. The training is currently available in person, and will be available online from April. Students must sign in at an in-person training session or complete the online quiz to satisfy the HDR requirement. More information is available via the FAQ sheet on the HDR website.

Human Research Ethics
Human Ethics training is compulsory for all staff and students submitting an ethics application for the first time at Deakin (either to DUHREC or to the Faculty HEAG). This may be done in person or online through D2L. Regardless of whether the training is undertaken in person and online, it is necessary to complete the online quiz available on the D2L site to test your understanding. Additional information is available on the Human Research Ethics homepage.

Animal Ethics
The Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) Part 1 Training Course is compulsory for all staff and students who are listed on an animal ethics application and who intend to use live animals in their research or teaching. This training is provided online through D2L and must be successfully completed prior to an investigator being listed on an AEC Application. Additional information is available on the AEC training course webpage.

Biosafety and Biosecurity

Th Biosafety induction training (PC1/PC2) course is compulsory for all Honours and HDR students and researchers new to Deakin, and covers the mandatory Behavioural Requirements for OGTR work. It is provided monthly at Waurn Ponds campus and as required at Burwood.  Additional information on all available courses can be sourced via the Biosafety and Biosecurity Induction and Training webpage.

If you wish to organise training in an area that has not previously been offered, please contact the appropriate person below to discuss the options.
