Deakin researchers celebrate India's special festival.

Researchers from Deakin University have held a special day of celebration for Diwali.

These celebrations included an afternoon of song and dance on the Waurn Ponds campus, primarily organised by researchers and their colleagues from the Institute for Frontier Materials.

Diwali, considered to be the sub-continental equivalent to Christmas, is a festival of lights celebrated across the sub-continent, including both India and Bangladesh.

Among the dancers called up on to the stage during the festivities were Deakin's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jane den Hollander.
