Researchers based in Geelong, including those at Deakin University, are being encouraged to enter this year's Smart Geelong Researcher of the Year Awards.
Applications for the awards opened on August 1st and close on September 19th,
Now in their eighth year, the awards have become a key part of the growing research activities in and around the Geelong region.
In 2012, there are seven award categories, with one winner from each category.
In addition, one of the winners will be named Researcher of the Year and a second winner will receive a Highly Commended award.
This year's awards will be presented at the Researcher of the Year dinner on October 26th.
The guest speaker this year will be Victoria's first Australian Laureate Fellow and the director of the Institute for Frontier Materials, Professor Peter Hodgson.
