Human Research Ethics Committee
DUHREC meets 10 times per year to review ethics applications. Submission to DUHREC is subject to strict deadlines which are approximately 3 weeks prior to the meeting. Typically you can expect a response from the DUHREC within the week of the meeting.
A pre-review service is offered by the ethics advisors. Deadlines for pre-reviews are also strictly adhered to.
If you require a pre-review by an ethics advisor please email a draft of your application to email@example.com by 9am on the pre-review request deadline below.
All deadlines are strictly 9am. No extension of the submission deadline is possible.

Deakin University Human Research Ethics Committee (DUHREC)
DUHREC is responsible for reviewing all higher than low risk research ethics applications. Research which is higher than low risk is defined in the National Statement as research with the potential for harm1, or where participants may feel distress, or something more serious than distress.
The DUREC site is restricted to members only. As a member you will find:
- agenda and minutes of meetings
- applications for review including clarifications and amendments and new applications
- important committee information and documents
