- About Deakin
Alfred Deakin Professor David Crawford is named a Fellow of the ISBNPA.
Research shows that dusting, vacuuming and scrubbing the bath generate exertion and physical health benefits yet bring no mental health rewards.
ARC Future Fellowship allows Professor Ester Cerin to facilitate active ageing.
Deakin University's Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition Research (C-PAN) is a research centre with world class expertise in both nutrition and physical activity.
Our combination of nutrition and physical activity research puts us in a unique position to do innovative, quality research to significantly improve health in Australia and reduce the rates of chronic disease.
Our research into disadvantaged communities, children's health, healthy ageing and healthy neighbourhoods is world leading.
We also conduct innovative new research in areas such as the impact of taste on health, healthy bones and muscles, cognitive and mental health, healthy and active workplaces, food policy and consumer food choices.
Importantly, our research is solutions focused and is used to inform the development of nutrition and physical activity related policy as well as new programs and practices.
For over a decade, we have consistently been awarded significant funding from nationally competitive research funding schemes, grown our national and international collaborations, shared our expertise with governments, non-government organisations and community groups, and helped develop the next generation of leading researchers.
To improve the health of all Australians through nutrition and physical activity research excellence
To conduct high quality, multidisciplinary nutrition and physical activity research to actively inform policy and practice to improve health, and build capacity in nutrition and physical activity research in Australia.
