- About Deakin
For the Developing Research Leaders (DRL) program, mid career researchers are defined as staff who are five years post completion of their doctorate and/or who have been employed in an academic role for five or more years. For selection to the program staff will need to have well established research skills and a reasonable track record in research on which the mentoring can build.
Participation in the program as a mentor or mentee is voluntary though Heads may encourage the participation of individual high potential mid-career researchers in their School.
In order to be considered for the program, staff in each Faculty or Research Institute are invited to submit an Expression of Interest that indicates their objectives and preferences for mentoring. Similarly, senior researchers in the Faculty and the relevant Research Institute are invited to submit their details in an Offer of Assistance form provided by the Staff Research Development Office.
Further information about the timetable for implementing the Developing Research Leaders (DRL) program at Deakin can be found on the program implementation page.
