Human interaction and "imaginative play" are by far the most beneficial activities for young children, Deakin University's Associate Professor Karen Stagnitti has told The Herald Sun.

"It has such strong links with language, social confidence, problem solving, abstract thought, and the ability to engage with others," she said.
