Exciting new challenge for Professor Tes Toop.

Deakin University has appointed Professor Tes Toop as Director International Research Initiatives.

“I wish to congratulate Tes on this new and important role she is taking on as Deakin’s research collaborations grow around the world,” said Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Lee Astheimer.

“Working right across the University, she will be responsible for the oversight of international research and research training MOUs and agreements.”

An active researcher in her own right, Professor Toop most recently has been heading up Deakin Research’s Office of Research Integrity.

“This is a very exciting challenge, both for me and for the University, as we expand our international research partnerships,” Professor Toop said.

Deakin University’s growth as a research institution is reflected in the number of international collaborations in which it is involved in India, China, Indonesia, South East Asia, Europe and North America.

The international flavour of modern research is also evident among Deakin researchers, particularly those based on the Waurn Ponds campus, where more than 40 nations are represented.

“As a researcher myself, I am aware of how important it is to be involved in research that is of world standard,” Professor Toop said.

“Part of my role will be ensuring that we maintain those standards as we initiate new research projects across the globe.”
