A successful experiment, says Professor Lee Astheimer

Deakin University's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Lee Astheimer, has congratulated the research teams who were successful in the recent crowd funding project Research My World.

The project, believed to be the first of its type in Australia, was conducted in partnership with crowd funding specialists, Pozible.

“This was a very successful experiment,” Professor Astheimer said.

"Aside from the funding for six out of the eight projects, the team leaders will have received valuable global exposure and interest from self-selected supporters.

“Importantly, these are projects that are likely to have a real impact on communities and now there is a new pathway to keep interested parties informed of the results.

“I especially urge Early Career Researchers have a look at the Deakin Pozible site and think about possible small seed projects for the future.

“They might also take a look at the projects listed in other crowd sites like KickStarter.”

The successful projects.
