- About Deakin
Deakin has achieved outstanding success in the 2014 round of the Australian Endeavour awards, with 14 international applicants receiving scholarships to undertake research at Deakin, and six Deakin researchers gaining awards to study overseas.
The Endeavour awards are part of the Australian Government’s “Australia Awards” program, and aim to provide international experience in research or professional development, and to support the development of ongoing research links between individuals, organisations and countries.
Kristan Marlow is set to visit Kings College, London, to undertake research for his engineering PhD.
Deakin’s Australian recipients include two Endeavour Research Fellowships for overseas research related to a PhD in Australia, and four Endeavour Research Fellowships for carrying out postdoctoral research overseas (USA and China).
In the former category, Mr Daniel Corp (Human Movement) and Mr Kristan Marlow (Engineering) will be studying in the US and UK respectively for their research towards a PhD in Australia. The four successful postdoctoral researchers are: Dr Alexey Glushenkov, IFM (USA); Dr Nishar Hameed, IFM (USA); Dr Saiful Islam, SEBE (USA); and Dr Sophie Loy-Wilson, Arts and Education (China).
The 14 visitors will undertake research in areas across the university in fields such as health, education, engineering, politics, psychology and biological sciences.
