Opportunity to join the fellowship
Expressions of interest are now being sought for the 2015 round of Alfred Deakin Postdoctoral Research Fellowships.
These two-year fellowships are awarded to excellent early career researchers, who are within five years of completing their PhDs and wish to excel in their chosen research field. Applicants must be able to demonstrate outstanding research performance, including a strong track record of peer reviewed publications.
“The Alfred Deakin Fellowships offer a wonderful opportunity for top calibre researchers to develop their careers,” said Deakin’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Lee Astheimer.
“Successful candidates gain the opportunity to collaborate with world experts in their research fields, along with a whole new level of independence and research autonomy.”
“Our Alfred Deakin fellows actively develop their own independent research and are involved in a wide range of collaborative projects nationally and internationally.”
Professor Astheimer added that the fellowships are a key part of Deakin’s research growth.
“In many cases, our Alfred Deakin fellows go on to gain further fellowships and grants that set them up to be future research leaders in their fields,” she said.
Priority is given to projects that align with Deakin’s research footprint, with up to 20 fellowships available, and academic mentorship provided by experienced Deakin academics.
“Expressions of Interest” are due by June 9, with selected candidates then being invited to complete the full application, due by August 18. The fellowships will begin in 2015.
