Bamboo the answer to many questions

The research of Three Minute Thesis finalist Tarannum Afrin from Deakin's Centre for Materials and Fibre Innovation is big news.

Tarannum Afrin is developing a method of processing bamboo she hopes will be environmentally friendly and allow the fibres to retain their moisture-controlling and antibacterial properties.

Tarannum Afrin, of Deakin's Centre for Materials and Fibre Innovation, was one of the finalists in the University's Three Minute Thesis competition.

Her enthusiastic presentation for the many roles that bamboo can play in an environmentally sustainable future earned her a Highly Commended from the judges.

That enthusiasm has also been taken up by the media, with Melbourne's prestigious broadsheet newspaper, The Age, picking up the story.
