Deakin has won 11 Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery 2011 projects and 4 ARC Linkage Round 1 2011 projects, representing a success rate of 17% and 40% respectively. Success was spread across the University.
The Institute for Technology Research and Innovation has won a total of 6 projects (5 Discovery and 1 Linkage) and the Faculty of Arts and Education has gained 4 projects (2 Discovery and 2 Linkage). All Chief Investigators on the Faculty of Arts and Education projects are members of the Centre for Research in Educational Futures and Innnovation (CREFI). Professor Jill Blackmore, Director of CREFI, is delighted with the outcome and thrilled that members of the SRC are having such an impact.
Other winners include the Faculty of Science and Technology whose staff won 3 Discovery projects. The Faculty of Health, Medicine, Nursing and Behavioural Sciences won 1 ARC Discovery project and the Faculty of Business and Law gained 1 ARC Linkage project.
Professor Lee Astheimer has congratulated all successful applicants and their teams and has extended her thanks to those teams who submitted applications. "These rounds are extremely competitive and a lot of hard work and planning goes into applications. Although the outcomes for some individuals may be disappointing, these figures represent an improvement on past outcomes for Deakin which is very encouraging."
