Travelling the world
Stephen Wanyonyi and Swathi Bisana win prized trip to The Netherlands.
Two of Deakin's University talented young researchers, Stephen Wanyonyi and Swathi Bisana, have won a Student Travel Award for the 9th International Symposium on Milk Genomics and Human Health 2012 in The Netherlands.
“This international conference is one of the two big meetings in our field,” said Professor Kevin Nicholas, who holds the Chair in Biosciences at Deakin.
“It is exceptional to have two post grad students invited to speak, and to have all their costs covered by the organising committee.
“It is a great outcome for our lab.”
Deakin’s ground-breaking research in the biosciences has also been recognised by the invitation to Associate Professor Christophe Lefevre to speak at the conference.
“This is a marvellous result for Christophe, too,” Professor Nicholas said.
“All up as well as being a great moment for Stephen, Swathi and Christophe, it is a great result for Deakin as we build a world-class reputation for our research.”
