The Bachelor of Design (Architecture) comprises cutting edge content from the latest research and has a global perspective. The course places emphasis on real application, allowing you to study architecture from day one.
You will explore architectural ideas, history, philosophy, design and communication as well as building science and technology. The course is designed to meet the needs of students who want to complete the Master of Architecture and practise architecture. Some of the subjects you will study include Architectural Design, Graphic and Digital Communication, Sustainable Futures, Urban Ecologies, History and Theory, Building Materials Science, Computer Aided Modelling, and Construction and Structures.
This program is accredited by the Australian Institute of Architects, the Architects Registration Board of Victoria and the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia, when followed by the Master of Architecture (S700).

Deakin's Waterfront Campus is situated on the edge of the Geelong CBD on beautiful Corio Bay. It is located close to Geelong's main train station, about 50 minutes by car or train from Melbourne, and a short drive from Victoria's famous Surf Coast. The school is housed in a stunning, heritage-listed complex that has received three Australian Institute of Architects awards for conservation, merit and recycling.
An expansive, modern design studio with 24-hour access, 3D technology space and an onsite trade workshop located at Deakin's Waterfront Campus offers students the opportunity to use the latest technology and equipment in their studies. Other facilities include an extensive technology services area and photographic darkrooms. Students' work is exhibited in the School's gallery overlooking Corio Bay.
Deakin students have the opportunity to enrich their tertiary experience by becoming involved in an international exchange as part of their course work. Students have taken part in exchanges to countries including Finland, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Hong Kong, the UK, the US and Mexico.
