Computing and Communications

The computing and communications group at the School of Architecture and Building, Deakin University, investigates computational tools for supporting design intensive problems in the built environment. The mission of the group is to improve and enhance the design quality of the built environment through research centred around digital technologies for the design, documentation, procurement, construction and management of the built environment. The group investigates problems of architectural geometry, generative design, building information modelling, parametric modelling, web-based collaboration and knowledge management.

Key Research Areas

  • Architectural Geometry and Generative Design
  • Digital acquisition and documentation of buildings
  • Visualization, Reconstruction methods and Virtual Environments
  • Digital Prototypes and Full scale Fabrication
