Property and Real Estate

The property and real estate discipline is an integral part of our society and accordingly the research conducted by this team is of the highest importance and affects many facets of our society.  The researchers at Deakin University have a vested interest in sustainability which has been reflected in research papers and books in this area, especially with relevance to the relationship between sustainability and new and existing buildings.  The other core research areas include valuation, housing affordability for newly formed and older households, inclusive access to buildings primarily for people with disabilities, access for people with vision and hearing impairments and mental health illnesses, demography and residential market analysis.  The discipline has very strong long-standing links with industry bodies including the Australian Property Institute, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Property Council of Australia and the Real Estate Institute of Victoria.  The property and real estate research team contributes to many editorial boards and also edit the Emerald journal out of the UK titled ‘The International Journal of Housing Markets and Analysis’.
