Single fibre tensile testing

Single fibre tensile testing

The Sifan test equipment has been developed by BSC electronics and Deakin University to do single fibre tensile tests of non-uniform fibres. Each fibre is scanned for diameter variation versus length before a pull to break is conducted. Fibre diameter profile can also be conducted without the pull to break component. The Sifan III is able to rotate the fibre through multiple angles and measure up to 52 different angle profiles of the one fibre. Both systems utilise a high resolution digital camera to capture the diameter.
