The program's distinctive blend of applied science and management focused units ensures that graduates are highly employable, with the ability to work in industrial, innovative, regulatory, emerging and commercial biotechnology sectors.
As a Deakin Biotechnology student you will graduate with knowledge, skills and experience in biotechnology that can be applied in both research and commercial environments.
You will graduate with excellent practical skills in small to large commercial scale biotechnology production, which can be applied to real-world bioinnovation, bioentrepreneurship and biomanagement.
These skills are in high demand worldwide and markets are developing rapidly in Australia and the entire Asia Pacific region.
Biotechnology graduates can expect to work with biopharmaceutical companies, medical devices companies, hospitals, medical institutions, agricultural companies, government departments and institutes, CSIRO, regulatory bodies, stock exchange, business management companies and intellectual property law companies.
Applicants will normally have successfully completed an accredited undergraduate program comprising at least three years of study in Science (or equivalent).
You will have exposure to the world-class research that is being carried out at the Geelong Technology Precinct at Deakin University's Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus. The precinct is a cluster for scientific and technological research and houses Deakin University's Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (ITRI), with its modern laboratory facilities (see www.deakin.edu.au/gtp).
