Bachelor of Information Technology

The Bachelor of Information Technology opens doors to a wide range of career opportunities in Information Technologyrelated fields. Students can gain a broad qualification or select a pathway into a specialised course in Computer Science and Software Development, Games Design and Development, IT Security or Multimedia Technology.

Hands-on learning

Students benefit from a hands-on approach to learning and all units include practical work using the most advanced technologies. Deakin students have access to top software in fully-equipped computer laboratories and the opportunity to take CISCO units for a head start towards CISCO certification.

The Industry-Based Learning program enables undergraduates to work full-time in industry as part of their degree. Majors include Computer Science and Software Development, Games Design and Development, IT Security and Multimedia Technology.

Teaching and facilities

Small classes and accessible lecturers help students get the best out of their university education and offer a friendly learning environment.

Flexibility

Deakin’s Bachelor of Information Technology is structured to provide flexibility and can be undertaken on or off campus. The course structure enables students to undertake one third of their degree as core units, one third additional IT units and one third elective units, although many students choose to take all their electives in IT, creating a double major.
