A Broad Start

Engineering students at Deakin University do not have to choose a specialism before they enter their course. Engineering students undertake common subjects in their first year before they choose to specialise in Electronics, Robotics and Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering. This format allows students to make a more informed decision and gain a broad base of knowledge in engineering.

Hands-on Learning

Students use first-class equipment to build< robots that might dance, play soccer or sumo wrestle. They also have the chance to use the knowledge and skills gained during the course to design a robot for an international robotics competition. The combination of theoretical and hands-on learning ensures graduates are career-ready. Students also take part in two-week professional practice units in which they gain additional practical skills, visit workplaces, learn from industry leaders and build valuable professional networks.

Teaching and Faculties

Mechatronics and Robotics students have access to state-of-the-art technology at Deakin, including the Haptics Lab and complex robotics systems. Small classes and accessible lecturers help students get the best out of their university education and offer a friendly learning environment.

Flexibility

Deakin is one of only two universities in Australia that offer Electronic Engineering off-campus with its online service. Our flexible study options enable courses to be completed in conjunction with career, family and travel plans.
