We can describe SoS as being far more than a system where its parts, acting as autonomous systems, form their own connections and rejoice in their diversity leading to enhanced emergence. According to Prof. Sage SoS exist when there is a presence of a majority of the following five characteristics: operational and managerial independence, geographic distribution, emergent behavior, and evolutionary development. This workshop celebrates the launch of IEEE Systems Journal and facilitates SoS thinking. Workshop Chair: Professor Saeid Nahavandi
