The Year 10 Deakin University Mathematics Contest ran well with 36 teams participating, entered by 20 schools from various locations around Geelong and the Western District. John Cameron and Michelle Cyganowski organised and ran the event, with the help of Damien Hutchinson and students Andrew Cookson and Dean Findlay. Professor Kate Smith-Miles opened the contest with an inspirational talk on the enjoyment of mathematics and future careers involving maths. Teachers and students expressed their appreciation of the event and commended Deakin University for running such an enjoyable day for the students.
Highlight of the day: the students' obvious enjoyment and involvement.
