In keeping with DRT’s tradition of being innovative the 2008 car will contain some significant changes to some major components of the car. Probably the biggest and most influential change will be the front suspension design. This year we will be mounting the front shocks and anti-roll bars will be mounted on the top of the nose section of the car. We will also be changing the a-arm angles as well. Some other changes we are going to make is make the nose and mid section of the car slightly wider in anticipation of expected rule changes in 2009. By doing this now we should be overcome any problems for 2009. We will be once again be using the same Avon racing tyres we have used for the past couple of years. In the engine department we will be continuing using the KTM 525 engine we have run in the past couple of years. We believe that this engine delivers the right mix in respect to power, weight and fuel economy. The big thing in the engine department will be getting the engine fine tuned as well as making it more reliable. The drive-train set up will remain relatively unchanged apart from a few minor modifications to make it fit the new chassis design. There will be lots to do on the ergonomics side of things as most components from last year will not fit the new design. On the cooling design side of things Joel Deppler will be concentrating on this subsystem of the car working efficiently. |
