Opportunities exist for suitably qualified applicants to undertake an Honours degree in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences. The aims of the program are to extend the candidate's knowledge and expertise within a selected discipline area and to prepare the candidate for employment or more extensive scientific research, which may lead to MSc and PhD degrees.
Admission to the program will require students to have a Bachelor degree with an average of at least 65% in their best six level-3 units.
Admission to the Honours program is dependent on a suitable research project and the availability of a supervisor. In addition, adequate resources must be available for supporting the student’s research.
The Honours program comprises:
A major part of the program is a research project carried out under the supervision of an academic member (or members) of the School. The project should be such that it can reasonably be completed in 6-8 months and the nature of the project should be such that it can be expected to result in a paper publishable in a recognised scientific journal.

The first step in securing a place in the program for 2009 is to contact supervisors and discuss your ideas with them. Once you have met with supervisors, there are two application forms to fill in.
