Copper and Zinc in Health and Disease

Trace elements such as copper and zinc are of vital importance for normal health and development. Disorders of copper and zinc underlie important diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease as well as genetic diseases including Menkes and Wilson disease. We are investigating the molecular mechanisms by which copper and zinc are processed by cells and the genetic basis of disorders of copper and zinc homeostasis.
