The raptor research group is undertaking cutting-edge research on Australian raptors.  Our main focus is on understanding the ecology of these amazing predators and using this knowledge to develop applied conservation solutions.

The group has research experience and expertise in the following areas:-

  • Spatial ecology
  • Genetic analysis
  • Dietary ecology (both current and ancient)
  • Population ecology
  • Conservation biology and management

We are currently investigating the ecology of Powerful Owls, Sooty Owls, Masked Owls, Barking Owls, Boobooks and Peregrine Falcons.  Much of this research is being conducted by PhD and honours students.  The research group is also actively publishing their research, presenting their research at conferences, and engaging in public education through public talks and media interviews.
