Social Research in Environmental Science Group

In recent years, there has been a growing need to understand the social dimensions of environmental management and conservation issues. Stakeholder groups and concerned individuals are increasingly wanting to contribute to environmental management processes and have their opinions and thoughts on environmental matters heard. To effectively incorporate community and stakeholder concerns into management and policy initiatives, it is important that decision-makers understand the values, attitudes, knowledge and behaviours of those affected by particular courses of action.

Over the last decade, the School of Life and Environmental Sciences has developed a strong research program in the social dimensions of environmental management and conservation ecology.
