Agent-based computing is a very promising philosophy that has contributed both theoretical and applied technologies to a diverse range of academic disciplines, including the humanities, the sciences and social sciences. It is emerging as a new way of thinking, a conceptual paradigm for analysing problems and for designing systems. Agent methods provide a mechanism for dealing with complexity, distribution and interactivity, and may potentially provide a new perspective on computing and intelligence.
The of Agent-Based Computing is to tackle some fundamental research issues in agent technologies and promote the applications in other disciplines, with emphasis in agent-based hybrid intelligent systems, agent-directed simulation in engineering, bioinformatics and computational biology. The mission of the incubator is to greatly stimulate interdisciplinary research, not only within the faculty, but also across the university.
