Education: B.Sc (Eng.) Hons (Peradeniya), M.Eng. (AIT), PhD (UTS); have more than 200 peer
reviewed publications in the form of books, book chapters, journal and conference articles and
commercial-in-confidence reports. Founder of the International Conference series on
the “Challenges in Environmental Science & Engineering”, CESE, which is being held annually
since 2008. Managing Guest Editor for eleven special issues in peer reviewed journals.

Research interests

  1. Water - Water treatment as well as water quality and hydraulic modeling in drinking water distribution systems
  2. Wastewater - Application of membrane bioreactors for the treatment and reuse of domestic, industrial and agricultural wastewater discharges and modeling the fouling of membrane
  3. Resource recovery - Recovery of minerals from mine tailing ponds and concentrate of reverse osmosis process through the applications of precipitation, nano-filtration as well as forward osmosis
