New project to catalogue Australian Web security threats

Deakin University will undertake a new project, in collaboration with Macquarie University, which will see large-scale analytics techniques used to analyse massive volumes of Trend Micro malware sensor data. Professor Yang Xiang will lead this three-year project with a primary objective of identifying and fighting Australia's most prevalent malware attacks.

In an interview with CSO (The Resource for Security Executives), Prof Yang Xiang revealed "the goal of the project is to use complementary knowledge and skills from both sides to work together and analyse the Web threats specifically targeting Australia."

Although the project won't secure the whole of Australian cyberspace, it is anticipated it will make a significant contribution in this field.
