Rashmi Choudhary Rashmi Choudhary believes the recent innovations in information technology, and their ability to benefit society, are remarkable. Web 2.0, cloud computing, smart meters, next-generation airport check-in technology and the National Broadband Network are just a few of the developments she finds inspiring. An IT consultant with IBM Australia, Rashmi chose to study at a postgraduate level because of the explosion in 21st century IT demands. ‘I chose this field because I find it challenging and it is an invaluable skill to have in today’s world. I like to keep myself updated with current technologies and market trends,’ she says. Rashmi chose to study at Deakin because, after researching other universities, she was drawn to the University’s course contents, reasonable fee structure, campus location and its ranking in the IT field. Impressed by Deakin’s teaching and non-teaching staff, Rashmi was also able to receive assistance in finding accommodation, applying for Australian permanent residency and having her skills recognised by the Australian Computer Society. Throughout her course, Rashmi completed a four-month internship with Radiant Systems which led to the company offering her a full-time position as a software developer when she graduated in 2007. In 2009 she joined IBM Australia as an IT consultant. Rashmi says her career has been extremely rewarding and has included promotions, awards, and opportunities to travel and work with the latest technology. In the future she hopes to become an IT architect. ‘Deakin has given me a strong foundation to build my career on and I am very happy with the choices I made - which turned out to be right - in choosing the Master of Information Technology course from Deakin and then joining Radiant Systems and ultimately IBM Australia.’
