Games Study Tour: Jakarta, Indonesia
Games Application and Technology
9 November - 23 November 2014

This study tour comprises the cultural, technological and business side of the game industry hype in Indonesia. It will provide participants with the exposure to Indonesian culture and history, which can be applied in their game art and design.

Through this course, participants will also gain knowledge and hands on experience using game technology while gaining valuable insights of the game market from the industry players (both game developers and game publishers).

Eligibility: This study tour is recommended for undergraduate students completing the Bachelor of Information Technology (Games Design and Development), however the program is open to all undergraduate IT students. Students must have completed a minimum of eight units of study in order to be eligible to participate. Please check with your Course Advisor to ensure this study tour unit (1cp IT elective) fits within your course structure.

Cost: The program fee is approximately $2,500, which covers flights, meals, accommodation and academic content. New Colombo Plan funding of $2,000 per participant is available to subsidise this cost.

IT Study Tour: Bandung and Bali, Indonesia
ICT for Smart Cities
14 November - 27 November 2014

Indonesian's leading Technology University, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) is inviting Deakin's IT students to look at the social and technological realities of Indonesia to plan for a new and better Smart City. Participants will be exposed to Indonesian culture and get the opportunities to work on a project that looks at new methods of connecting cities of the future. Through this course, participants will also gain knowledge and hands on experience by being placed in groups with ITB students to plan, observe, analyse and design projects for a Smart City.
The program at ITB will also include industry visits, cultural and student activites as well as participation at an international conference for IT in Bali, Indonesia.

Eligibility: This study tour is recommended for undergraduate students completing any Information Technology degree at Deakin University. Students must have completed a minimum of eight units of study in order to be eligible to participate. Please check with your Course Advisor to ensure this study tour unit (1cp IT elective) fits within your course structure.

Cost: The program fee is approximately $3,000, which covers flights, meals, accommodation and academic content. Domestic students may be eligible to apply for an OS-Help Loan of up to $7,500 to help fund their participation in the program.
