In order to understand how species, communities and ecosystems are influenced by anthropogenic
pressures and an increasingly stochastic environment, scientists need to establish baselines and
understand the factors that control the behaviour and distribution of species. I am a conservation
biologist with a broad interest in understanding the foraging behaviour and distribution of species over
multiple spatial and temporal scales. I am particularly interested in unravelling individual
specialisation in foraging and understanding how species respond to environmental variability.
Currently I am working with Dr John Arnould on several projects, including the foraging ecology of
southern sea lions breeding at the Falkland Islands and closer to home, Australian fur seals.

Research interests

  1. Behavioural plasticity, individual specialization and population variability in marine top predators.
