| My current research with John Endler focuses on the sensory ecology of great bowerbirds. Males build avenue-type bowers with large piles of grey stones and white bones at either end called courts. Recent research has shown that these objects increase in size as distance from the bower increases, creating forced perspective for the female within the avenue. We aim to establish how this perspective alters visual aspects of the male display and to address what advantages this may confer upon males.
