Our aim is to:

  • Use neuroimaging, electrophysiology, brain stimulation, and motor tracking to provide a detailed understanding of developmental neuroscience processes, particularly those involved in social perception, communication and emotional regulation
  • Integrate cognitive neuroscience approaches into broader public health and longitudinal research approaches, including cohort studies
  • Determine how brain development predicts later social and affective behaviour

Focus areas

The Development of the Social Brain in Early Childhood

This study examines electrophysiological changes in the social and emotional brain throughout early childhood, with a specific focus on social brain connectivity and social communication. Working within the Australian Temperament Project, this work also explores whether foetal brain development can predict later brain functions and social/emotion behaviour.

Non-invasive Brain Stimulation for Autism Spectrum Disorder

Using neuroimaging and brain stimulation approaches, this research investigates the neurobiology of social and emotional brain regions in autism, and explores the development of novel interventions that target neuroplastic processes.
