Your IT security obligations

In order to keep your personal information and data protected while at Deakin, eSolutions would like to advise you of the following:

Your Deakin username and password are private

Deakin University will NEVER ask you to supply or update your password using an email message - do not forward your password details via email under any circumstances. If you have responded to an email requesting your password details, please contact the IT Service Desk immediately for assistance. eSolutions recommend changing your password every 180 days. For more information on how to manage your username and password, visit the username and password page.

You must log out of your workstation after use

Always log out of your workstation when you are finished, or when you leave it, even if only for a few minutes. If you remain logged in, people may access your personal files, or use your printing credit and internet quota. Remember, all usage is recorded against the username that is logged in.

You must comply with copyright and license restrictions

The University forbids the use of its computing and communications facilities for any purpose which would breach copyright. Any breach may lead to disciplinary action, including loss of access privileges and reporting of the incident to the appropriate disciplinary committee, according to University legislation and policies found in The Guide.
