  • Authentication - 802.1x (WPA TKIP)

Wi-Fi configuration information

If you are attempting to connect a personal device to Deakin's eduroam network manually, please use the generic Wi-Fi configuration data provided.

Recommended computer requirements

Note: computers provided via DUWS meet the required specifications.

Windows

  • Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 or greater
  • WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access 2) update for Windows XP from Microsoft, downloadable from the Operating systems updates section of the Deakin software library
  • Wireless card that supports IEEE 802.11b or g standards

Some laptops may need an update to the wireless driver; you may want to contact the vendor to find out the compatibility of the wireless card with 802.11 or refer to the wireless card manufacturer's website.

Macintosh

An AirPort or AirPort Extreme card is required. AirPort Extreme is recommended as it allows for higher speeds and increased security. We recommend you use Mac OS X 10.4.9 or above, which includes the required AirPort update.
